Everything you should know before we start designing and building.

What do you actually do?
I design products and the experiences inside them. Research, information architecture, interaction design, and interface, from ambiguous problem through to build ready design. I also build what I design in React, so the work ships rather than sitting in a spec.
Alongside that I define what good looks like: UX metrics, Northstar definitions, and measurement frameworks that let a team tell whether the design worked.

Do you work on websites, or products?
Products. Apps, platforms, internal tools, and the features inside them. If you need a marketing site, I'm probably not the right fit and I'll tell you so on the intro call.

You build in code too?
Yes. React and modern front end tooling. On smaller engagements I hand off build ready design; on others I ship the front end myself. It means design decisions survive the handoff, because there isn't one.
To be clear about scope: I build front end interfaces, not back end systems or infrastructure. If your project needs both, I work alongside your engineers.

How long does an engagement take?
A discovery sprint runs two weeks. A full product engagement is typically four to six weeks. Retainers run monthly with a three month minimum.
Before we start, you get a written scope with a fixed price, a timeline, and what's explicitly out of scope.

What if I don't know what I need yet?
That's common and it's what the discovery sprint is for. Most teams come to me knowing something isn't working, not knowing exactly what. Figuring out the right problem to solve is the first half of the job.

How do we start?
A thirty minute call. We talk about what you're building and where it's stuck. If I'm the right person, I'll send a proposal with scope, price, and timeline. If I'm not, I'll say so.
